Last Saturday, I finished taking a week-long painting and drawing course (Artist in Italy) outside Chiusi, Tuscany. It was a fantastic experience with so many wonderful things to draw… and never enough time since I work slowly. With individual instruction, my focus was to try different processes to increase my speed, cut out the pencil draft stage and use more pigment when painting (reducing the number of times I layer colours). It was uncomfortable for me, but by the week’s end, I was definitely faster.
Here are a few of the full scene sketches:
Now onto the next speed round of sketching!
