On this Earth Day 2020, I’m reminded and grateful for how beautiful a spring day can be… even when we are sheltering indoors.
The trees outside my kitchen window are budding. The lilies in my garden are popping up through the ground. And even with the roar of some essential construction in my neighbourhood, when the engines cut, all I hear are birds. So much birdsong is filling the air without having to compete with everyday human noise. Going for short walks has also made me notice more of this natural renewal.
So I’m inspired to paint Spring. And how even in the midst of our concrete world and all its problems, the arrival of spring can inspire calm, reflection, and the appreciation of beauty.
From a spring visit into the city a few years ago, this new miniature captures “Springtime in Toronto”.
