I love travelling to New York City to eat!
In a city this size, there are always new cuisines and restaurants to discover, not to mention the food halls and markets. In 2015, we discovered another venue for foodies called Smorgasburg. Like its namesake, smorgasbord, Smorgasburg is a weekly outdoor gathering of local chefs and artisanal producers providing every type of food you could think of!
In 2015, we prepared for our Sunday visit to Smorgasburg with a good dose of exercise, by walking over the Brooklyn Bridge from Manhattan to the waterside Brooklyn Bridge Park. Our appetites were now ready for the enormous array of lunch options. If I remember, my lunch had some Thai, some southern BBQ, and some vegetarian elements in it. With lunch in hand, we found a place to sit, take in the delicious food, and take in the views of the Manhattan skyline and bridge. Awesome!
I’ve learned the Sunday Smorgasburg has now moved from Brooklyn Bridge Park up to Prospect Park, so I’m glad I have a photo of this picnic spot to remember this yummy event, painted in my Mini Vacation piece #83, aptly named “NYC Picnic Spot”.
Available for purchase at my Etsy Shop, ArtWeWonderful, and at my art shows
I love the effect that the colorful chairs have on the mood of the image. 🙂
Whoever designed this park was wise to include as much colour as they could against such a concrete-centric background! It definitely livens up the spot!
Lovely rendering…
Thanks, Mark!
You’re welcome!!
