Reflecting on Reflections in Venice

Looking through all my source photos to decide what to paint for my next Mini Vacations piece, I came across this Venice canal shot from a 2007 trip.

It was one of those shots I took for that iconic architecture, but in looking at the photo later on, I was surprised to see those colourful reflections in the water. I was so busy marvelling at the buildings, I had missed this watery artistry! Ironically, one of the themes of this trip with my travelling companion and I was “being present”! Ha ha!

So, while I was appreciating this canal’s beauty through the drawing and painting , there was a recurring message here for me too! Slow down and seek out the beauty that’s not-so-obvious!
