Whenever I’m in Florence, I have to pay a visit to “Nicco”. Nicco is not his real name, but it has been discreetly graffiti’ed above him with an arrow so we get his name right!
Nicco is likely a young satyr or some similar creature, and only his head perches on a wall above a stone fountain basin in Piazza dei Davanzati on the Palazzo dello Strozzino. He can be easily missed as he’s tucked around a corner and there are often dozens of motorbikes parked in front of him. And since he’s a little on the small side, I find that graffiti arrow more poignant, like he doesn’t want to be forgotten or overlooked.
I drew him for #inktober 8th from one of my photos. Challenging getting the light values in the right spots, but again, lots of fun to draw some cherished travel memories.
