I didn’t get in as much sketching as I wanted in Florence, but I did spend a wonderful afternoon in the garden of Palazzo Vivarelli Colonna. I understand that it’s only open a few days a week, so I was lucky to be in town on the right day.
Sketched the fountain and then the rain came down in torrents. Luckily I got a photo in before the deluge, and painted the drawing on the dry terrace of my B&B.

You are so right, Rebecca! I think what’s so special about sketching while travelling is capturing those moments that are attached to the drawing, but are not obviously evident in the drawing. And this one brings up lots of memories.
