Love Locks at Nyhavn, Copenhagen – sold
A few years ago, I painted my first miniature featuring Love Locks – the padlocks with lovers’ initials attached to bridges and other structures. Being the romantic that I am, this symbolic gesture of locking hearts and throwing away the key has always captured my imagination. Before my husband and I were married, we did our own version of love-locking by carving our initials into a large tree in a Toronto park, and they are still there.. and so are we.
As another year and another decade comes to an end, I’m thinking about the love I’ve known, the love I have. And so it’s fitting to close 2019 with another Love Lock painting – the photo subject taken by my son and his wife on a recent trip to Copenhagen.

3″ x 3″ ink and watercolour on archival watercolour paper
And I’m thrilled that this new miniature has found a loving home with a couple who travelled to Copenhagen as one of their first trips together. Love, love, love!
This is amazing Marion 👌🏼 And so your interesting story 😀
Aw thanks, Snehal!
