A Panorama With A Little Gaudi

You’ve probably noticed that I am a big fan of city panoramas, as I’ve painted a number of them from various travels. They always spur my imagination as I take in the various buildings and neighbourhoods. I try to envision myself as one of the inhabitants, my first thought usually being “what would it be like to live here?”

And the panorama in my new miniature painting, “Park Güell View Over Barcelona”, had me thinking the same thing in 2018 as I gazed out at the sprawling beautiful city to the sea. This park was originally supposed to be part of a unique housing development, designed by the creative genius Antoni Gaudi. He only saw a few homes of his dream neighbourhood built before the entire endeavour ran out of money. I kept wondering what if they hadn’t and this northern Barcelona neighbourhood was filled with these whimsical, fantastical homes like the two at the front gates of the park. Would I be tempted to put in an offer to secure one and live in this magical place? Likely I would if I could!

Because who wouldn’t want that spectacular city view too?!

  1. I also think, what would it have been like to live here?, when I visit an interesting place. Your capture of Park Guell is perfect. I too loved it there.
