Doesn’t a February break in the towns of the Cinque Terre, Italy sound good?
Last February, I held my break in Riomaggiore. This February, I selected Corniglia as my town of choice.
Okay, I didn’t actually GO to the Cinque Terre in those Februarys, but instead I took a break from painting miniatures and painted larger pieces. I’m still inspired by my travel photos for these pieces, but I’m changing up the shape – this one is 5″ x 12″. After going through my photo files, I chose this view of Corniglia, nestled among lush hills and terraces, and perfect for this long narrow shape.
In this view, Corniglia reminded me of a colourful ribbon, weaving through all the greenery. I kept this concept of the ribbon, and painted a waving ribbon of the drawing, leaving most of the greenery unpainted. Something new for me! What do you think?
Here’s a progress video of the piece:
Maybe next February, I can take my painting break in the actual place!
So very beautiful!
Thanks, Kim! This region inspires!
, nestled in nature – lovely
It really looks as if these buildings truly hug the hills. Thanks!
I like it! A new trend for you, Marion…I like it! 🌟
