This past spring, I stayed in the small village of Casperia, northeast of Rome, and each day on my way down to the one restaurant in town, I’d pass this beautiful little side street – the earthy colours, the healthy greenery, and the intrigue of where this cobbled path led. It always made me stop and take a photo (so I have several of this street!). I didn’t have the time to paint it while I was there, but this week, I made the time – from one of those photos.
Even in revisiting the photo and drawing the street, the memories of my trip flood back. Guess that’s one reason I love sketching my travels so much! I get to have an “echo-trip”!

Hello, Ry: I followed many side streets in this town, but I wasn’t certain if I had been on this one. So I checked Google Maps, and discovered this street ends just around the top of the stairs in the drawing. No – wasn’t on this street, not sure why. But I like your theory about leaving the mystery be!
