In Tuscan Fields – sold

Over the years I’ve painted a number of scenes featuring sunflowers, and they’ve all been snapped up quickly. People love sunflowers!

It’s quite a testament to this plant that it can bring so much joy to people. I’ve seen visitors to my art shows break into broad smiles upon seeing a sunflower-themed painting. My latest miniature of a Tuscan field was the first painting to sell at this summer’s Toronto Outdoor Art Fair. And then afterward, I was asked by other visitors if I had any more sunflower pieces available! They were definitely in demand… more than usual.

Maybe we are all in greater need of elements in our lives that make us smile and make us think of sunnier times? Or else, it’s simply a case that sunflowers are just really really popular!

Sunflowers do make people happy. They have always been popular but even more so since the war in Ukraine as sunflowers are their national flower. When I was in Provence, we drove through a field of sunflowers. It was amazing!
