Vintage Texaco In The County

While on a recent trip to Prince Edward County, we came upon this vintage Texaco station that someone had lovingly restored and outfitted with many artifacts. From the old Ford to the Texaco-branded gas pump and oil cans, it took me back to my childhood days when my grandfather ran gas stations. I remember he’d stand at the gas pump catching up on local news with his regular customers while they got their fill-up, Then, he’d come into the station and show me how to use his antique cash register to ring in the sale – it was always a thrill when the cash drawer popped open and I’d put the bills in their proper slot. Maybe this is why I spent so many years in retail?!

Thank you to the caretakers of this station for the fond family memories, and the inspiration for this new miniature painting!
