Much of the art I make revolves around “Wow” moments – moments on my wanderings at home and abroad when I’ve been astonished by beauty, creativity, compassion or great accomplishment.

I wanted to end off 2018 with another “Wow” moment captured in art. This moment belongs to a commission client and I was thrilled to paint it in ink and watercolour for her.

As she recalled for me:  it was amazing to be exploring the streets (calles) of Venice, lost in one incredible sight after another. But to come around a corner, step onto a small bridge and see THIS… whew! A beautiful canal complete with gondolas, historic palaces, the Santa Maria Formosa church and campanile, and a rainbow forming after a brief shower out in the lagoon – a WOW moment!

I hope she encounters more of these exceptional experiences, as I hope we all do. This is my wish for 2019!
