Retro-Spectacles

One last look back at 2016’s “Mini Vacations” Project!

Mini Vacations 2016

Mini Vacations 2016

I thoroughly enjoyed making these 57 mini pieces (2.5″ x 3.5″), although I expect my next optometrist visit to result in a change to my glasses prescription! And I’m beyond thrilled that 26 of them travelled to new homes around the world this year!

With my new specs (lol)… I hope to reach the goal of completing 100 in total of these pieces before the fall of 2017, which means 43 more to go. With this year being the 150th birthday of Canada’s Confederation,  I’ll be making more Canadian pieces than last year, in addition to my beloved Italy, France, and a few other family travel destinations. And I’ve got a number of larger pieces planned for 2017, as well. Now it’s time to get to work!

Today, I’m simultaneously painting the first 3 Mini’s of 2017 – a flower-filled view of Positano, a Tuscan town called Sommocolonia, and the Flatiron building in New York City.

Only 40 more to go!  (Shiver, cough, sigh, smile, and pick up that brush!)

After 2016, I know it’s doable in large part because of your support, your comments, and your friendship over the past year! It’s really been invaluable!

A very big thank you and a wish to you all for a fulfilling and creative 2017!
